Colour Wheel (Principals of Design)

For our colour wheel project, we decided to use strings to represent our colour wheel. We used mounting boards as our frames as it was cheaper than buying real actual frame. Our work was easy so we didn't really had to meet up to do it together. We would meet up once in awhile to discuss on our progress and as well as the materials we needed.

Hung up before presentation

A compiled version

To be honest, I really thought that the complied version looked better than it being hung. Ms. Maslisa said that we should had increase the thread's thickness as it goes further behind. Overall, we were happy with our work but I thought that we should had done something much more better.

Paper Cut Out (Principals of Design)

At this time, we were asked to do a paper cut out design using only a scalpel or a blade. She asked us to do our design on the spot and the thing that popped out of my mind was Tribal designs. She was not really pleased with my sketches at first and told me to go back and think about it. That was when I came out with a Zodiac Tribal design. I used my zodiac which was a Taurus to help me design my cut out.

My symmetrical design. A Taurus head.

Asymmetrical design.

She accepted my designs and told me to get working on it as she wanted to see our progress on the next week. It was a tough week as I had never did paper cut out in my life at all. The hardest part was to get the symmetrical design the same and not different. As for the asymmetrical it was easy and relaxing to cut.

We all took turns to present our work. When it was my turn she said she loved it and said that it would look nice if it was a tattoo. I was proud of myself and happy that everyone else's work turned out great as well.

Rules of Third

My subject matter was doodling, Ms. Maslisa said it was plain as I only took pictures of me drawing on a blank paper until it was filled up. I was disappointed with myself as I thought that I could had done better. She said that it was nice and cute but I should had did something different rather than fill an empty piece of paper.

Art Movement Self Portrait (Principals of Design)

For this assignment, we were asked to make a research about Art Movements. For me, I chose Futurism, Expressionism and Cubism. We had to sketch and tell her what we know from what we researched.

 Futurism Sketch

Futurism or Futurismo was an artistic and social movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century. It emphasizes the power of our future. It was focused more on machines, speed, light and youth. Ms. Maslisa said I had a great understanding towards futurism and was made my main art movement for now.

Abstract/Expressionism

As I explained my expressionism sketch to Ms. Maslisa, she corrected me and said that this was actually more towards abstract rather than expressionism. She rejected this art movement and only left me with Futurism and Cubism.

Cubism

Cubism is where every lines on a human face meets each other like a cracked mirror. She said I still need to do more research on my cubism. That was when I knew it had to do a futuristic art movement.

Ms. Maslisa then gave us a week to complete a sketch of our self-portrait of the art movement that she decided for us and wanted to see our progress as well.

My Sketch of the futurism art movement.

Progress
At first it was tough for me because I never did such kind of colouring at all. I had to explore and learn myself which made me happy because I have learnt something new.

Progress 2
It was getting better slowly and was making me happier.

Finished worked.
It was tough for me to colour as I had to manage my time well but I was never good with time management at all but in the end everything was finished. We had to present on the day itself and she gave us a few comments on what we should had done.

She said she liked it that I took her advice but told me that I should had coloured the background and not leave it white. In the end of the day, everyone was proud of their work and so was Ms. Maslisa.

Mind Map and Self-Portrait (Principals of Design)

For our first class of Principals in Design, we were given two tasks to do which was making a mind map about ourselves as a way to introduce ourselves to the whole class. Not only that, we had to make a self portrait only out of objects and not drawing.

My mind map

Self-portrait

It was challenging and fun at the same time as we only had 30 minutes to finish up everything. It's was just a mere grab and go and come up with something. After everyone had presented we were asked to do a research about Art movements and were asked to choose 3 for our up coming assignments. We had to sketch and tell her what we understand about the art movements that we chose by next week.
